Are You Considered An Expert In Your Field?

No matter how much you know about any given subject or industry, you are not considered an expert in the field unless someone else says you are. They may know as much or more than you do, but if they have reason to believe that you are and expert, then others likely will also view you as an expert.

The question then becomes, how do you get others to view as the go-to expert on matters in your chosen field of expertise? Being recognized as an expert is hard work and attempting to convince people of your credentials will not make it happen. You have to show them your expertise. One way to make that happen is to become published on the subject. There is something about being named an author about a subject that can instantly make you an expert.

Many time you will see a presentation being given by someone you never heard of, and it is usually accompanied by the notice that they are the author of a book, an article an important-sounding paper, but rarely does it ever say where the item was published. That detail is not nearly as important than actually being published. Making copies of the article available also lends credence to the claim of being an expert.

With so many ezines published on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, use your background and knowledge about a subject and write a short informative article. Find an ezine publication focused in the same area and offer them the article free of charge. Unless it is true garbage, most ezines will not refuse free content and once they publish it, you are on the road to becoming an expert.

Offer your speaking services to local service organizations on subjects related to their membership. If you have spent years in management, you probably have good knowledge about many aspects of managing a business and speaking to other business owners about management ideas can boost your credibility. Now, not only are you a published author but you are also an experienced speaker.

From the free speeches to small groups you can advance to offering presentations to peer groups, further securing your status as an expert in the field and can get paid for your speaking and presentation abilities. In reality, the biggest difference between an expert in the field and another person working in the field is not about their advanced knowledge. It is more about how much they can charge for their services. Experts make more money.

Starting a consulting business, based on being an acknowledged expert can make all the difference in the world. Your subject matter and materials may be exactly the same. but with the new designation of expert in the biography, there are more people willing to spend money to hear you speak.

Your website can tout all the reasons and all the people and groups that consider you an expert in the field, without every using the word expert. Simply by having the background as a published author and public speaker is usually enough credibility to make your expert opinion worth pay to hear.

Can Such A Business Thrive At Home

Have you ever been on vacation and come across a business idea that you have never seen before? Maybe a twist to an old idea that you thought was unique or a new taste to the old hamburger that you find absolutely fantastic. Maybe a retailer with a unique niche product that you find is not only available but can be opened as a franchise. Before writing the check to get the business open back home, you are going to want to do some research to find out if the business can survive in your neighborhood.

It is not only whether there is enough population in your hometown to support the business, but are there enough of the right kind of customers to make the business grow into the success you envision? While you may be enamored with the concept, you will need to make sure others will embrace your enthusiasm before opening a new business. You can easily start be looking around in neighboring communities to see if such a business exists.

They do not have to be the same brand you are considering, but similar in the type of products or services they offer. It will probably not hurt to travel to a nearby location and talk to the owner of the franchise about business prospects. They may not be willing to divulge a lot of information to a stranger, but they give you a general idea about the success of the business. Also, if there are no cars in the lot during what you might consider what should be a busy time, what they tell you may be a moot point.

Look at competition to the concept and how other businesses are supplying the overall need that your proposed franchise may end up competing against. You should also understand the demographics in your area, and most information is available free through local chambers of commerce. By comparing the community make up with other similar sized communities, you can gain a good understanding of the potential for success your franchise idea may have.

While most companies, for reasons known only to them are reluctant to talk about profit expectations, talking with other franchise owners may reveal some of the realities of owning that particular franchise. Again, they may be reluctant to offer figures, but most will share their experiences about the business relationship with the flagship company. But researching the company as well as the business can save a lot of heartache in the long run, as well as your cash.

Buying into a franchise can be the beginning of a long lasting financial affair with your bank and if the business venture will not work in your town you can either find a town in which it has a better chance of survival or find another opportunity. But, the bottom line is that if you enter into a franchise agreement and the business does not produce as expected, you are the one holding the promissory note with the bank and if you put your house up as collateral, you family's future depends on the depth of your research.

Deciding On A Franchise Or A New Home Business Venture

There is a lot to be said about starting and owning your own business concerning the personal satisfaction of being your own boss and nurturing an idea from its infancy and growing through maturity. There are also a lot of headaches and a potentially long learning curve before you are comfortable with the way the business is operating. Finding the right advertising message and marketing strategy that can position your business within the same industry to make it a leader is another obstacle that needs overcome before becoming successful.

Despite all of the advantages of business ownership, there are many who prefer simply to trade the sweat equity needed to start their own business, along with a usually nice piece of change and buy a franchise in an existing business. In most cases, all of the bugs have been worked out of the operational side of the business and the company's business plan has proven to provide a working model. Essentially, a new franchise owners is trained on how the business is supposed to be run, to make sure it meets the company's goals, and then run it.

While this can be a quick and easy way to operate a new business venture, it remains far from allowing the franchise owner to own their own business. They can take advantage of the existing brand recognition, advertising and marketing strategies that helped the main company grow into its current position. Make no mistake, most companies do franchise unless they are certain new owners can be trained to run them and everything is in place to insure they can turn a profit.

Buying a franchise does not a business owner make. What it does is give the buyer the right to claim the profits from the business. Owning a franchise does not allow the owner to change the offerings of the company nor does it allow them the right to alter the way the company does business. When a franchise is purchased, usually the new owner continues to pay for the right to use the business's name and brand recognition. In return, the main company allows the owner to keep the profits from their venture.

While owning a franchise is a quick and easy way to get into business, it is not necessarily the type of investment for an individual with an independent streak. Most purchase agreements allow for the main company to take control of the franchise if the owner violates any part of the franchise contract…without remuneration. Meaning if the owner introduces a new product to the menu, they can lose their rights to the franchise.

Regardless of the necessary investment, the decision is based on one thought. Do you want to buy the opportunity to run someone else's business, and probably make a decent wage out of it, or do you want to have total control over a business you own? For the individual with the true entrepreneurial spirit who wants to live or die on their own merits, a franchise may not be the best decision.

Affiliate Your Web Site To Broaden Marketing Reach

One of the toughest parts of owning an online business is getting traffic to your site. Traffic is what drives sales and sales it what drives you to operate a business. Without traffic, you have no business. Consider your online business as a brick and mortar business located on the side of a major, busily traveled highway. There are literally thousands of businesses located along the road with fancy signs, flashing lights and in some cases people standing by the side of the road signaling their presence.

Looking at your business, located in a non-descript building with no widows and one unmarked door. It is painted a dull color and there is no sign to indicate the business is located inside this drab building and the parking lot be a little too small for anticipated business. There is no advertising in the newspaper, radio, television or the phonebook and as a consequence, there are probably no visitors roaming around inside the store.

Although the prices of whatever you are selling inside are significantly better that those offered by other sites, no one will ever know it because they do not know you exist. One of the favorite methods of inviting traffic to your store is the use of affiliate marketing. To understand the concept, consider advertising in print or broadcast media. You make up the ad and pay to have it published. You have very little to go on as to how effective the ad has been, but you paid for it just to get your name out. Think that you made one sale from an ad that cost a thousand dollars to post. A dismal return for sure.

Affiliate marketing is essentially connecting with other online business owners and having them put your ad on their site. You do not have to pay unless your ad produces revenue. Kind of like a pay for performance agreement. If the ad produces sales, you pay the site owner a percentage of the sale. If the ad does not produce any sales, you pay them nothing.

These other sites want to make money without having to warehouse merchandise or handle any of the shipping and payments. Their only work is putting your ad on their site and then promoting their site to get more visitors. The more sales they make for you, the more money they earn in commissions. The more advertising they do of their own site, the more visitors are sent your way to buy your products. This pay for production type of advertising, affiliate marketing is one of the fastest growing methods of earning money on the internet and allows even small businesses to establish a large marketing network with a bare bones budget.

Additionally, one of the algorithms search engines use is counting the number of quality links to your site from other sites. Every affiliate that posts your ad on their site is a link back to you and you do not have to trade links with them, making it more attractive to the search engines. This can also increase traffic direct to your site from search engine users.

How To Win At Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the process of promoting the goods or services of another person in exchange for getting a commission every time that one of those goods or services is sold.   Affiliate marketing in this way can be a very easy way for a person to get something done and when it comes right down to it the low cost and easy time commitments that affiliate marketing brings to the table are exactly what people need when they are starting up a business.   However, this does not mean that everyone that tries affiliate marketing is going to be successful at it, so even though it is one of the easiest ways to start a business online, you still need to know how to win at affiliate marketing.

Location

In real estate, location is the biggest thing.  In affiliate marketing, location is also the biggest thing albeit in a different way.   The location we are looking for in affiliate marketing is not the location of geography or region that real estate developers are interested in, but rather the location affiliate markets are looking for is the proper market to sell their products.   Markets are targeted to different things and interested in different things and figuring out which markets are likely to like the products you are marketing is part of becoming a great affiliate marketer.   You can make things a lot easier on yourself by ensuring that the affiliate marketing that you do is only directed at markets and people that are actually interested in those particular products.

Leverage

There is a very sad story in some affiliate marketing circles and it is the story of the person that did not understand leverage.   This person came up with a fantastic marketing plan for affiliate marketing and tried it on one product.  That plan worked great, but because the profits that it brought in were not enough to sustain a full time income, the person gave up and heartbreakingly went back to their old job.

What is the lesson here?  The lesson is that people need to consider leverage when they consider how to win at affiliate marketing.   Figuring out a strategy that works is hard, but once you have that strategy your next goal becomes to leverage the strategy by applying it to as many different products as possible.

If you can make $100 a week selling a certain product, why not start building up your infrastructure so that you end up making $10,000 a week eventually by selling 100 products that each make $100 a week?

Critical Thinking

Location and leverage are two examples of things that came about as a result of critical thinking.  Someone was faced with a problem (too few people interested in the general public or too little profit from selling one product) and came up with a solution by thinking on their feet.   Everything that you do in affiliate marketing will require this type of critical thinking and it would be impossible to go through the hundreds of different ways that this is already true of the field.   Just remember to always re-evaluate the situation you are in and try to think critically about ways that you can make it better.

Choosing Employees For Your Home Business

If the time comes where you can no longer fulfill your tasks and job demands on a solo basis it will be time to consider hiring employees. When you find yourself in this position you have to think carefully about what you expect from this person and what qualities you are looking for them to relay. Asking specific questions at an interview over the phone, through a questionnaire or in person will help you to get a better feel for each individual and how they may be able to benefit you and your business.

Expectations can be high after all this is your business that you have built and nurtured for it to become successful. It is also run from your personal residence and you would want this person to be the proper type of person to allow entrance into your home. You need to know ahead of time, prior to speaking to this person what you will in reality require from them. Will they be collecting supplies, dropping off or taking orders? Will this person be required to handle money or keep track of financial records? Will this person be trained to aid you in the over all business processes? Depending on what you will require this person to be able to do will depend on the questions you need to ask. IF they are a form of delivery and pick up, how is there driving record do they have a valid drivers license? Is it in or out of state? Will they have a vehicle or will you provide this? Does this person have the communication skills required to take orders and mark them correctly? Is this person trustworthy to run deposits to the bank or keep records of transaction for you? Knowing the task and the expectations for the related task will help you to research the persons character for the position.

Personal qualities can make or break the hiring process of an individual. Many businesses require a questionnaire to be filled out that contains questions concerning morals, ethics and dependability. You can find such questionnaires online or you can create your own. Having these prepared for an interview can make the process flow much smoother. You can have them fill out the paperwork and then review the answers with the person. This can assist you in knowing if you want to pursue this person as an employee or turn them away for the businesses benefit.

The process of hiring a person is not always easy. Concerns of a person’s personal background of drugs or abusive behavior can be something to look into. You can never be too precautious when having a person join you in your home as well as your business. Any convictions or bankruptcies as well as other court proceeding transcripts are public record and available online. If you feel it is necessary to know this type of personal history it is available to you. Most important factor in hiring an employee is trust. If a sense of trust is not present simply move on. Take the necessary time to find the employee(s) that you desire.

Advertising Your Product In Inventive Ways!

Online advertising is more than a web site with words about your product on it. When a customer buys a product ...that customer has bonded either with the product or with the salesman. They are familiar with the salesman. They know he will answer all their questions patiently. They are familiar with the product and know it will give them what they want. The internet is a place advertisers can bond with their customers. It allows two way conversations with out making the customer feel uncomfortable. These conversations are created through various means such as e mails and chat.

You are not forced to talk with a friend. You want to talk and you do so when you are in the mood.

So it is with online advertising. A customer sees an e mail with a subject he is interested in. He can read it now or later whenever he is ready or in the mood. This is unlike billboards that go flying by and TV commercials that play when you are in the kitchen preparing snacks.

Email

Email is one of the prominent reasons people are on the internet. Friends send e mails to each other. They send pictures and the latest news on the family. It is possible to become friends with your customers through e mails. Sending e mail newsletters to keep the customer up to date on your company or product is bonding with them. They will come back again and again. That is, if they agree to the e mails. Sending unwanted e mails can have the opposite effect!!!

Micro site

This is a small web site on a larger web site. This can be good for products that people need but don't want to give a lot of thought to. For instance....a laxative. Who wants to read a lot about a laxative? But if you see a small site about it every time you go to your favorite health site you are likely to click on it. After all, eventually you may need it. Then when you go to the store you are not going to stand there and look at all the laxatives. You will remember the one from the micro site.

Web site

A web site is an easy way to bond with your customer. Here you create the customer's experience.

You will use color and other images that will appeal to your customer. You know exactly who your customer is and realize that a different image will appeal to a skateboarder than to a new mother.

You can track your customer's experience. You will know how many visited your web site, how long they stayed. You can interact with them by having a customer service area or a suggestion box. In doing this you are able to have the customer thinking of your product as a personality. There are many expert web designers. Consult one of them and use your web site for a few days to work out all the kinks.

Communication Is Key To Business Success

Many people and companies brag about their ability to communicate when in reality they have no idea what good communication really is. Many people confuse communication with delegation, which is a worthwhile trait, but in business effective communication is the better virtue. To effectively be involved in a two-way exchange of ideas that reach a logical conclusion is the adapted definition of communications in a business environment.

To effectively communicate it is not enough to be able to express thoughts and ideas in a manner in which the person to whom they are directed can understand, it is equally important to insure the thoughts and ideas are understood in the same manner in which they were expressed. It was once discussed that when a delegater tells someone to jump, the other person will ask how high? When a communicator tells someone to jump, the other person will ask high enough? while on their way back down.

The best communicators also do not dictate their intentions. When on the job and discussing a project to be done, opening a dialog with all of the people involved in getting the job done is an important tool for communications. Not matter how good the plan is written, the people that are going to be doing the job will have a much better idea about how long it will take and what will be involved than the most experienced supervisors. Not welcoming them into the discussion will usually result in the project falling behind.

Communicating what you, as the business owner want to accomplish, is only the first step in communications. Asking others for their input about the best way to accomplish it, is the second step. Most importantly, being willing to accept their ideas and criticism about how the job is being approached can be the best move any boss can make. Taking the stand that you are the boss and they will do it because you said so may get done, this time, but it may also cost some valued employees.

Being made to feel appreciated is the one method of reducing business turn over and by having their ideas presented during open, invited communications can achieve that goal. Failure to communicate properly is one of the fastest ways of building a wall between the business owner and their employees. Making the employees feel their opinion matters to you however, is also dependent on where the communication takes place more so than it actually occurring.

Whenever possible, communication with those that work under your direction should take place either in their environment or in another location at which they feel they are on a more level field of play. When they are called into your office, no matter how friendly you try to make the surroundings, it is still your office and your turf and many are reluctant to disagree with the boss on his own playing field.

Moving the discussion to their work environment makes them feel more at ease as the boss is on their field now, and says they are willing to listen. They will be more open to discussing what they do not like about your plan and in ways to make it better.

Basing a Home Business on Residual Income Opportunities

Who has not dreamed of making money from home? Who would not love to make residual income from the work of others while one has to do little more than just deposit the money? If you have ever had thoughts that eventually went in this direction, you will find that the Internet is your best friend!

With a plethora of legal and reputable income sources for your home business endeavors, you may choose to either operate a bona fide home based business, or simply work from home, even if you are not necessarily running a business. Cases in point are the many opportunities that permit you to earn a little money for reading emails or taking surveys. Even as you are not operating a home business, you are making money by working from home.

Yet if you truly want to make more than just a bit of change or pocket money, you will be wise to focus your attention on the residual income opportunities which abound online! Just like a singer or songwriter will make residual income from a work she or he created years ago every time it is played on the radio today, so you can build a business around an opportunity that will make you money for months and years to come!

Entering a multi level marketing (MLM) business is of course the best methodology bar none, and choosing a product with a future – such as nutritional supplements – is a winning method for not only finding a product that is in hot demand, but also for building a business which many others will be happy to join. As you sell the supplements and make a steady income, you eventually will begin recruiting out of your circle of customers one or two of the most promising prospects and groom them to become sales people just like you.

Eventually, these sales people will go out and make good money selling the supplements, but you will keep a small percentage of their profits for yourself. Find enough recruits, and you will soon make enough money from the profits of your recruits that you can quit selling the product altogether and instead simply focus on recruiting and training new sales people.

In some cases individuals will seek to maximize their income opportunities by signing up for a plethora of MLM opportunities that fall into the same general area of business. You will shorten your learning curve drastically, streamline your future training times, and thus have the opportunity to truly realize a return on investment that is quite respectable.

Of course, prior to signing on anywhere, you must research the company, product and market. Know what it is you are selling, and whether it is currently in hot demand or if the market is already saturated with the products or similar ones. In the same way, ensure that you are dealing with a reputable company which will make recruiting others easy and which features a most generous remuneration plan that will keep the money coming.

All Businesses Need Presence On The Web

Back in 2002 the founder of Microsoft made the prediction that eventually there will be two type of businesses. Those that have a web presence and those that have no business. While many scoffed at the notion that every business would need to have an internet address, his prediction may not have been too far from the truth. As more and more people looking for solutions to a variety of problems, one of the first places they go for information is the internet.

Even businesses that do not sell anything online can benefit from having their own website. Although their customer base may be limited to only a few miles from their physical location, when people begin looking on the internet for the products or services the company does offer, if the location is not found online, or is not listed in internet phone books, their potential for gaining new customers is limited.

Relying on reputation and word of mouth advertising may provide limited exposure, but in order to take advantage of the internet, a website will be needed by virtually everyone conducting business, regardless of where. For those who doubt their future may be at stake, they are advised to consider the last time they registered for information or for a prize at a local event. Nearly every entry form now has space for an email address and some ask for the homepage address.

In many industries a location online is just as important as the traditional brick and mortar locations as it provides another means for customers to find out what the business offers and how it can help them. Businesses in the trades industry, such as home improvement industry or home repair may have trouble understanding the importance of having an internet location, but when customer need a plumber, electrician or carpenter, one of the first resources they tap is an internet search engine.

They are correct in their assessment that they will never sell anything over the internet and have no reason to have a website. However, potential customers may want some basic information about the company such as how long they have been in business and what their specialties may be before sitting on the telephone and making a lot of calls. The website can also have a contact page with which customers can send inquiries about specific services that may no be listed on any of the industry websites.

Many customers today use the internet for comparing services, not just prices and being able to find a business and know what it can offer them is important to many people. Businesses without a website or internet email address may be missing a large segment of society that counts on search results to meet a large portion of their needs. Businesses with a special niche in an industry can vastly benefit from having their own internet location as they will quickly found by individuals searching for that unique service, which without a website would continue to go unnoticed, hoping someone calls them.

Can You Do What You Do Now From Home?

There are lots of people who want to work at home, but there might not be that many work at home jobs that you would feel comfortable doing. The first question that you should ask yourself if you are considering working at home but love the job you are doing now is whether or not you can do this job from home. Many people have found that they are able to do what they love to do from home, which makes it that much easier on them.

There are lots of reasons that employers might let you work from home. First of all, most people who work from home get their work done much sooner and much better. This is because the office can be a very distracting place, not to mention that you have to take time out of your day to get there, to talk to others in the office, to take your lunch break, and to go to meetings that may or may not have anything to do with you. Often, people take big projects home because they feel that they can get them done faster there. Therefore, you are perhaps going to be able to talk to your boss about the fact that you will be able to get things done much more efficiently and much faster, if you are able to work at home.

There is also the morale issue for bosses to consider. No one wants unhappy employees, and when people feel that they are stuck at a desk all day, away from their loved ones and a slave to the machine, they might be less likely to be able to do their work on the best terms for you. In fact, your boss might agree that people who work in the office simply aren't as happy as they could be, and when people are not happy they are not really able to do what they can do. Therefore, allowing the people who want to work from home to be able to do so is often one of the ways that good bosses can help employees be happier and get more done during the day.

Remember that if you decide to do what you are doing now from home, it might not be a full time job at home.  You might need to go to the office occasionally for meetings or other things. So, you should be aware that asking to do your work at home does not mean that you will always be in your home office and never again come into the main office. Most people who end up taking this route work from home about 3/4s the amount of time, and end up being in the office a quarter of what they used to be. Even though this might seem like a lot, lots of people enjoy doing this because they can have the freedom of working from home and only need to go into the office occasionally, which works well for them.

All Residual Income Streams Require Hard Work

One of the greatest lies that is consistently told and retold online is the myth of making money online in your sleep without any effort whatsoever. Who truly believes that you can build a business in 10 minutes and then walk away and have the money roll in? In addition to the foregoing, who believes that a person who claims to hold the secret to becoming an online millionaire in 60 days or less will be selling it for $19.95 on a poorly designed website that lifts its graphics from one of the free photo archives found online?

No, the truth of the matter dictates that all residual income streams require hard work from start to finish. Begin by carefully choosing the income opportunity that is right for you. Meticulously research what is out there and then pick one that is close to your heart because it is of interest to you and also because it may offer a product or service you believe in.

As you start out, think of your fledgling business as a seed that you lovingly plant in some rich soil. Daily watering, care, and sheltering from the elements will make the seed grow into a huge oak tree – over time of course – while in the business world the daily attention paid to the needs of the business, the care that goes into growing the business to its full potential, and the protection against market upheavals and dips by staying ahead of trends and adjusting the business accordingly will result in your eventually having a residual income stream that may be more a raging river than a trickling brook.

For example, if you choose a certain type of residual income generating business, make sure that you only sign up for one or maybe two opportunities at a time and then take good care to nurture them and make them grow. Sure, once they are pretty much running by themselves, you may choose to sign up for more such opportunities and thus maximize your income opportunities, but doing too much too soon will force you to pay only cursory attention to all, rather than doing what you do well, one business opportunity at a time.

Some online entrepreneurs have learned that maintaining several healthy residual income streams relies on portfolio diversification, and you may find a business professional who is involved in the nutritional supplement industry as well as in the travel and insurance businesses. Hedging their bets and diversifying their business interests is a wise move and if you can do justice to each and every business, you will be wise to follow this example to more or less market proof your income!

Diversification will also permit you to learn how to streamline your efforts and you may be surprised to learn that when you are developing a methodology for recruiting others to join you in the business – for a cut of their overall profits – you may benefit from having a diverse background and thus you might be able to cover more ground than others in a similar situation.

Yet no matter which business model you embrace, remember that all residual income streams require hard work!

Avoiding Distractions Of Running A Home Business

One of the most common thoughts of people thinking about starting a business with which they can work at home is having all kinds of free time and being able to work when they feel like working. The reality is, that operating a business at home is more than a full time job and in most cases their workday will be filled with distractions.

When working a job outside the home most people do not see the distractions around the house. They may have gone to bed early and left the dishes in the sink or the dishwasher and forgot about that load of clothes they maybe should have done the night before. When they get up the next morning those chores are still there, but they have to get ready for work and when they arrive homes that night, the chores are still there. When working at an outside job the phone is not heard ringing and friends and family will not drop in unexpectedly because they know you are working.

All of this seems to change when a person decides to move their job into their home and suddenly that eight hours of work will take 12 or more to be accomplished. The dishes will seem to be calling your name and the dirty laundry will be calling out from another room in the house. Suddenly, the telephone's ringing will never seem to stop and if, by glancing at the caller ID they decide not to answer the phone, the unanswered caller, knowing they home may stop by just to make sure they are OK.

Such are a few of the distractions that take time away from the person working at home. There are many others, often self-inflicted that prevent them getting their work done on time. Working outside the home and for someone else, there are certain expectations about the amount of work that will be produced during the day, but for some reason working at home makes deadlines seem to be innocuous. There will be no one around reminding them the work needs to get done, often causing them to leave it until the last minute.

Some people use the excuse that they work better under pressure, but most times when under pressure they do not do their best work. Some of the other distractions that get in their way may the television and a program they really wanted to watch. Turning on the TV in the middle of the day can provide tremendous distractions, which causes a loss of focus on the task at hand, allowing them to get further behind.

It takes a certain mind-set to be able to operate a successful home business while dealing with the daily distractions. Persons who do not have the self-discipline to focus on the task at hand, may be better off working outside the home for someone else who can help keep their mind on the job. The main thing to remember when working at your own home business is that if you don't do it, no one else will and soon there be no business.

A Healthy Home Business Environment

Spending between eight and twelve hours seated at a desk, typing on a keyboard can leave you exhausted and often leaving your home office with aches and pains. Poor lighting can leave your eyes tired and sore as well. When you know that you will be spending an extended period of time in your office you need to create a healthy work environment. When you work from a home office you can do this much easier than a person working in an outside office. You can add personal touches that make your space welcoming and design your office space to leave you feeling much healthier at the end of the day. The first area you want to observe is your lighting. Do you have a window that allows for natural light? Do you have a lamp that provides a bright enough light at an angle that will be of help to your eyes? Providing yourself with natural light during the day can keep you feeling energized and having a solid source of light of an evening will prevent eyestrain. Without your eyes you are not able to perform as many duties as with healthy vision.

Back, shoulder and wrist pain are often complained about to physicians each year due to being seated at a desk and the type of furniture used. There are simple pieces of furniture that can be used to relieve leg pain such as a footstool. A wrist rest and back support can relieve these pains and shoulder pain can be relived by using a chair with more support.  You can find this healthy equipment at an ergonomic furniture site online. These pieces of furniture are all specifically designed for aiding the body to relieve and prevent pain. You can also find other tips on proper body posture while seated at your desk.

You also want to think of the room’s color and decorative items that surround you. Picking a color for your office can alter how you feel when working. Colors such as red, orange and yellow are bright energizing colors that can help to awaken you. Colors such as blues, greens and lavender are more calming and often suited best for bedrooms. Adding inspirational pictures can help with motivation. Placing living plants such as a potted fern or a vase with flowers can provide beauty and peace to your space. Adding items such as a small table fountain can also be calming. You want to have a quiet space with no distractions such as a television, children and pets. You want to be able to focus on your tasks in order to complete them more efficiently and in less time. You may find your home office to be comfortable, but you don’t want to spend more time in your work environment than needed. Considering the amount of time that you spend in your office space can help you to realize the importance of a healthy workspace. Take some time and effort in planning out your space and you will leave the office with pep in your step and being pain free.

Affiliate Marketing – The Basics
Copyright © Neil Mansley
http://www.NeilMansley.com

Affiliate marketing is promoting the goods or services of another person in exchange for getting a commission every time that one of those goods or services is sold. That breaks down to, in a nutshell, affiliate marketing is ADVERTISING! In this way, affiliate marketing can be a very easy method to get something done and when it comes right down to it the low cost and easy time commitments that affiliate marketing brings to the table are exactly what people need when they are starting up a business. However, this does not mean that everyone that tries affiliate marketing is going to be successful at it, so even though it is one of the easiest ways to start a business online, you still need to know how to win at affiliate marketing.

Location

In real estate, location is the biggest thing, the right street address or Zip code. In the UK the right postcode can be worth millions. In affiliate marketing, location is also the biggest thing albeit in a different way. The location we are looking for in affiliate marketing is not the location of geography or region that real estate developers are interested in. No, rather the location that affiliate marketers are looking for is the proper “marketplace” to sell their products, or as we call it, the proper “niche”. Markets are targeted to different things and different interests. Figuring out which markets are likely to be interested in the products you are marketing is part of becoming a great affiliate marketer.

The plan worked great but because the profits that it brought in were not enough to sustain a full time income, the person gave up and, heartbreakingly went back to their old job.

What is the lesson here? The lesson is that people need to consider leverage when they consider how to win at affiliate marketing. Figuring out a strategy that works is hard, but once you have that strategy your next goal becomes leveraging that strategy by applying it to as many different products as possible. This is also known as duplication. It may sound obvious as you read this, “If your strategy worked on one product in one niche there is no reason why it will not work on other products in other niches.” However you would be surprised to learn just how many failed marketers miss this simple trick.

Let me put it even more succinctly:
If you can make $100 a week selling a certain product that retails at $10, why not build up your business so that you end up making $1000 a week by selling 100 products that sell for $10 each?

Critical Thinking

Location and leverage are two examples of things that came about as a result of critical thinking. Someone was faced with a problem (too few people interested in the general public or too little profit from selling one product) and came up with a solution by thinking on their feet. Everything that you do in affiliate marketing will require this type of critical thinking and it would be impossible to go through the hundreds of different ways that this is already true of the field. Just remember to always re-evaluate the situation you are in and try to think critically about ways that you can make it better.
Sometimes you have to think “outside the box” there is no such thing as an impossible situation, it is merely a question awaiting the correct answer. As an affiliate marketer it is your job to come up with the correct answer. The real beauty of this is that there are no wrong answers! Just find what works for you.

Do you have what it takes to be an e-entrepreneur?
Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
Author of "Dotcomology - The Science of Making Money Online"

These days, it seems like everyone wants to work
from home and make money on the Internet. But
before you even turn on your computer, the first
question you have to ask yourself is whether
you’re cut out for this kind of work.

The fact is, building a home-based business isn’t
for everyone. Some people like the commute. They
really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what
to do, and they like the routine of working
nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can
barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think
they’re nuts.

More reasonably, there are people who are
concerned about the risk of starting up their own
business. They’re not sure it’s worth the
investment of time and money, and they’re scared
of the responsibility that comes with running
their own company. They wonder if there is
another way to escape the rat race.

I’m sure there is. You could win the lottery or
wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you
her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen
and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next
Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right?

For me, what happened was creating a successful,
self-running Internet marketing system. It didn’t
happen without effort. It didn’t happen without
at least some initial investment of both time and
money and, of course, it doesn’t happen now
without me making sure that the taxes are filed
and the paperwork is done. But it happened.

I’m my own boss. I work from home according to my
own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my
business makes. If you’re prepared to give an
e-business the time, the work and the money it
needs to get started and get growing, it can
happen for you too.

List Building - How Do You Do It?
Copyright © Neil Mansley
http://www.NeilMansley.com

Right, so you have spent a few weeks exploring. You have bought some products and collected lots of free products from various offers, you even have some resale rights products and your keen to start. You have a website and an autoresponder (either a free version or a professional package) and there are some things you want to promote via your affiliate links.

You are all set to go – well, almost. Ever since you took your first steps into this industry people have been saying or you have been reading in article after article, "the money is in the list!" but you have not got one. Does that mean you have got no money? Of course not, what it means is that you have an opportunity to make some money and build a list!

So, here is a trick for you. Choose just one of your affiliate products to promote. Make your choice based on the cheapest one to buy and the one that converts best (that is the one that turns most of the people that visit its sales page into buyers. Do not worry too much about your commission at this stage, your primary goal is to build a list and any money earned now is a bonus.

Now rather than using your adverts to send your potential customers straight to the product sales page, send them to your website instead. On your website create a landing page (sometimes called a squeeze page) where you offer them a free product if they leave their name and email details. You can provide a little extra encouragement to make them give you your details by offering a bonus gift (another free product) if they sign up right now!

Be sure to include a legal disclaimer link and an anti spam policy link on your page. People are worried that if they give their details out they will receive tons of spam mail and this is one of the major concerns that stops them signing things online.

Once they press the “send info” button, take them to a thank you page (also on your website) and make sure the download links for the free products you offered them are there and readily available. Below them on the thank you page you next want your affiliate link to the product sales page they were initially trying to look at.

By using this method even if they do not buy the product from your affiliate link (so you do not earn commission) they have signed up to your list and your autoresponder can keep them informed of other products you are promoting.

Affiliate Marketing – Do Not Lose Heart
Copyright © Neil Mansley
http://www.NeilMansley.com

The world of affiliate marketing is about………Advertising!
As a newbie it is very easy to become disheartened and angry with all the “gurus” who tell you, “It is possible to make a fortune online if you just buy this product.” Or download this report or this article. Then you click the links in the report or product page and get taken to more products! If you have your credit card to hand you can rapidly run up debts of a few thousand dollars. The “guru” gets rich and you are paying for it! GRRRRRRRR!……STOP. STOP. STOP.

Rather than getting angry, frustrated and disheartened, put your credit card out of reach and spend a day or so really looking at what the “gurus” are telling you. How are they making you part with your money? What marketing techniques and tricks are they using? How good is their sales pitch? Which words do they use that trigger an emotional response in you?

Write these things down. Keep them with you and refer to them often. Once you know how their advertising affects you, you can resist it and look more objectively at their sales pages and learn more about the product you were considering. Does it really do everything you want it to? Do you believe it is value for money? Can you afford to buy it? Can you afford not to buy it?

Choose your niche – Something you enjoy or know something about. Research the affiliate products that cater to that niche. Having learned the earlier lesson, you can assess the product sales page – is it good r do you need to pre-sell the product? How much commission will you earn? Remember the highest commission is not necessarily the best product to promote. You want to pick the product that converts the most visitors into sales. Research both the product and the provider to build your knowledge so that you can use it in your sales pitch and affiliate link adverts.

There are many forms of advertising. I would suggest specialising in one but you should try all of them to discover which methods you are most comfortable with. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) is probably the fastest, you can have an advert on line in about 10 min. But it can get expensive if you do not know what you are doing. Fortunately there are lots of ebooks out there to help you.

Joining forums and having a link in your signature is a useful advertising method, especially if you spend lots of time chatting in forums anyway. Your own website is an excellent advertising tool, all traffic that you drive there will see your links and can use them.

You can also write articles and post them to article directories. Any time your article is published it will include a link to your website. Solo adverts in ezines are another method but again this can be a pricey option if you are on a tight budget. And do not forget off-line advertising, flyers in windows etc.

Hopefully this article has given you some new resolve and a deeper calm. Do not get angry and do not give up. Affiliate marketing is advertising so go ADVERTISE!

The Next stage of the Journey

I was making some money from info products but I wanted to have something real too. Looking around I realised that, not having storage, not really wanting to deal with face to face customers, or get involved with credit card payments and customer returns, the best option was a dropshipper. Dropships are companies that allow you - the little person - to buy goods at wholesale and sell at any markup you want.

The one I chose in the end was Dropshipbiz.com They have a UK based operation and a US based operation. Being in the UK myself this made life simple. They have over 20,000 items that they can "dropship" direct to your customers door and they deal with all the customer care etc. all you have to do is get the customers. They even give you multiple options at this stage too.
You can purchase access to their list of items allowing you to buy at wholesale. You can purchase reseller rights for their list allowing you to display their items on your website. You can purchase an auction package which allows you to offer their items on ebay and other web auction sites. You can purchase your own website from them where you make a one off payment and they set up a website that you can customize to your design or you can purchase an auction and website combination plan. I went for the latter and within 4 days of placing the order became the proud owner of http://www.coolbluefool.com/ you can check it out. I am currently keeping my prices low to increase traffic and get established.

I then decided to buy Income4beginners and try out a targetted mass marketing campaign. I had found this company www.Majon.com Who were offering to send one million targetted emails to opt-in customers who had expressed a desire to receive emails about online marketing etc. I paid them $265 for one million emails and waited.

Meenwhile I also posted Income4beginners on freebie advertising sites I set up an AlertPay account (www.Alertpay.com) because my credit card was not accepted by the other payment method for the BONUSES you get with Income4beginners.

I bought the special offer after buying Income4beginners but I got an error message. I became very concerned that I had fallen foul of another scam so I sent a letter to the Admin address but didn't expect much.

Then I set up a MySpace account and a FaceBook account and placed a link to Income4beginners on both of them and then I started up this Blog.

Time passed and I started getting even more concerned because I had not had one single sale from my Majon mail shot and I now had other mailling companies emailling me trying to get me to sign up with them!

I set up an AdWords campaign for Affiliate Elite with a $25 daily budget and a $0.50 max bid for keywords. After 2 days I had had no sales so I pulled the campaign.

Then I got a response from Income4beginners Admin asking for a copy of my AlertPay receipt which I sent to them and they instantly responded with the url for the bonuses! Hush my sceptical mouth! It wasn't a scam and Jon really is as good as his word. I'd buy from him again and if you liked Income4beginners then you will love www.the-cash-magnet.com

I got an email from Majon.com saying that they required a faxed authorisation before they will do the mail shot and that I had to get the fax to them by Friday 30th Nov.

I faxed my authorisation letter to www.Majon.com confirming my order but I still havent had a sale. The situation wasn't helped by not being able to access my google account from my home computer because my works machine was locking me out!!

My missus just found out I've spent about a £1000 ($2000) setting this up and she is definately not happy with me especially as there is still so little to show for it. just 50 sales of Income4beginners would have paid off all my outgoings but so far nothing, just the money from www.OneVerySimpleIdea.com and that on its own is not enough.

I have so much material to read that I think I need to take time out and get a handle on it all. I understand the basics of the business and I have my eye on a few more products, you can check them out but they are invite only to join, I suppose you could say that I have invited you. www.EasyCashEmpire.com and www.TheCashBlitzProject.com I am more than happy with my progress up to this point even if my missus isn't. I have learnt a huge amount and now I will really start to put into practice what I have learnt.

Keep your eyes on this Blog because it will be updated more regularly now though it may also move to a new location soon. I have not been standing still while trying to bring this Blog up to date and you can visit the changes I have made in my life at www.NeilMansley.com everything on that site is good and none of them are scams so look through and enjoy.
